Since 1998, WILL Interactive has created about 70 Virtual Experience Immersive Learning Simulations and booked clients from every branch of the military, the National Football League, the FBI, Fannie Mae, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, said CEO Sharon Sloane.

The company crafts interactive movies that place a user into realistic situations allows them to navigate a virtual world of their choices, Sloane said. Combining the visual engagement of a movie with the interactivity of a video game, the simulations aim to change behavior and teach users about the consequences of their actions.

“It’s the benefit of experience without having to go through the real life experience,” she said.

Tania Anderson at dcTechSource.com has published an article profiling WILL interactive, featuring excepts of an interview with President & CEO Sharon Sloane:

The videos seem all too real. A soldier back from the war and not knowing how to deal with post traumatic stress disorder. Or a homeowner who doesn’t understand how to keep their home from going into foreclosure.

Technology is playing a major role in the decisions people make about complex issues. And one way to reach them is through games. WILL Interactive, a Potomac, Md.-based company that’s in the serious game developer business is getting a piece of that market with its proprietary software called Virtual Experience Immersive Learning Simulations.

The training software comes in the form of a movie that simulates certain situations, such as a soldier coming to terms with the fact that he may need counseling. The user becomes the lead character in the movie by picking different decisions they would make throughout the movie, with lessons on why their decisions are good or bad.
