Level III AT/FP - Deployed Naval Command

Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection

Creation Date:       2002

Contract Client:       Joint Chiefs of Staff

Description

After 17 years in the Navy, you have been selected to Command your first ship, the USS Wil—an Arleigh-Burke Class guided missile destroyer. You have over 300 enlisted crew members and 23 officers under your command and you must make decisions related to your AT/FP posture. You must address your ship?s deployment into a potentially hostile environment, including unforeseeable hiccups related to inter-deployment training, self-assessment, planning, movement and port entry and egress—through the completion of your objectives. You must deal with these—as well as other issues and challenges—knowing that the lives of your crew and the USS Will could hinge on every decision you make.

You are detaching from the 5th Fleet and heading to Laptcha, Ruvenia, a small country on the verge of democracy. After decades of instability, national elections will be held for the first time in their history. Your mission: Maintain a visible presence to show U.S. resolve for democracy in Ruvenia. Yet not all Ruvenians are pleased that you are there. Your decisions determine the fate of your command as terrorist cells test your security posture. At pivotal junctures within the Deployed Naval Command program, you may peek in and see what each threat cell was up to while you were making critical command decisions. Did you do enough to deter them from attacking? Or did they locate a weakness and exploit your error(s)? The threat of imminent terrorist attacks will challenge you and help you prepare for real-life AT/FP decision-making.

As with all WILL Interactive Virtual Experience Interactive Learning Software (VEILS®) programs, you become the lead character in a full feature, full screen interactive movie. The Deployed Naval Command VEILS® program has mission-critical decision points and feedback screens. Screens feature printable links to additional information as well as a Chapter Progress Bar. PIVAs and AT OPORDs provide decision making guidance.
