Description
My Year with Tony, a professional development tool for teachers and administrators, explores the challenges of teaching chronically ill children. Legal issues, professional responsibility, safe classroom management, infectious disease control, referral to social services, mental health needs, and the emotional costs of compassion are all addressed in one dynamic software package.
In My Year with Tony, you discover that the most wonderful 11 year-old in your class is living with HIV/AIDS. Each choice you make thereafter affects your students, your relationship to their parents, and your future career as a teacher.
In this program, you make decisions regarding confidentiality, first aid and universal precautions, and sports participation. You tackle the mental health needs of chronically ill children, the difficulties of teacher-parent relationships, and the many questions children have regarding death. My Year with Tony addresses how important a teacher can be in the life of a child with HIV or other chronic illness.
